Abstract
Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) or sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy is a rare idiopathic disease and usually associated with benign proliferation of hematopoietic and fibrous tissue. RDD commonly manifests in young patients as massive, painless, bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy. An extranodal form of RDD may develop in one third of patients, but there have been no case reports where the disease has occured in pterygopalatine fossa. We experienced a case of extranodal RDD without lymphadenopathy occurring in pterygopalatine fossa in a 54-year-old woman who presented with palatal pain.
